Chemical Coagulants For Wastewater
Flocculation and coagulation treatment chemicals are used in effluent water treatment processes for solids removal, water clarification, sludge thickening, and solids dewatering.
Coagulants neutralize the negative electrical charge on particles, which destabilizes the forces keeping colloids apart. Water treatment coagulants are comprised of positively charged molecules that, when added to the water and mixed, accomplish this charge neutralization. Inorganic coagulants, organic coagulants or a combination of both are typically used to treat water for suspended solids removal.
When an inorganic coagulant is added to water containing a colloidal suspension, the cationic metal ion from the coagulant neutralizes the negatively charged electric double layer of the colloid. Much the same occurs with an organic coagulant, except the positive charge most commonly comes from an amine (NH4+) group attached to the coagulant molecule.
GPC Clear Solutions Limited can supply both organic and inorganic coagulants depending on your application requirements. Please ask our team about our GRAS approved products if required.
At GPC Clear Solutions Limited, we aim to offer the best quality coagulants at competitive prices. Our range of coagulants includes:
- Organic primary coagulants (including polyamines and PolyDADMACS)
These are high cationic charged products that are needed to de-stabilise the negatively charged colloidal particles and they promote rapid floc formation. They also have low molecular weight and viscosity to ensure complete distribution and mixing of the polymer in the water. Organic primary coagulants are available in 25 Litre kegs or 1000 Litre IBC containers. The majority of our organic coagulants are GRAS approved.
- Product Names
- GPC – TBC – 25 – Flotan

- Inorganic primary coagulants
These include a wide range of PAC ( poly Aluminium Chloride ) based products, Ferric Sulphate and Ferric Chloride. Inorganic primary coagulants are available in IBC containers or by tanker delivery.

- GPC – AL01 – (10%)
- Ferric Chloride
- Ferric Sulphate
- Inorganic/organic primary coagulant blends
We can supply a range of inorganic/organic blended coagulants that can effectively treat a wide range of industrial effluents. They are all less pH-dependent than inorganic coagulants and produce lower sludge volumes. The products can be dosed, undiluted as a single treatment or in conjunction with a flocculant to produce flocculation. Separation can be either by flotation or settlement. These blends are available in 25 Litre kegs or 1000 Litre IBC containers
