A chemical specialist cleans up in complex waste issues. GPC Clear Solutions, based on Medway City Estate, supplies chemicals for industrial effluent treatment and sludge de-watering.
Founded by Griff Crouch in 2003, the family-run business supports customers in laboratories and on-site.
” We work with our customers to ensure local authority compliance and improve plant operations,” Griff said.
GPC works with gas extraction pipe sealing in landfill and has developed a system that captures oil and releases water. It has also run successful trials at filling station forecourts. GPC, an approved supplier to UK Power Networks, is currently developing cushions and booms to combat waterborne contamination.
When a long-term supplier stopped producing am in-demand chemical. GPC installed its own blending plant to make it.
Griff said: “Having very little spare space, we had to carefully design the plant to ensure a safe working environment while maintaining product quality.”
GPC employs eight people, including an apprentice.
It assigns top priority to workplace health and safety, Control of Substances Hazardous to Health ( COSHH ), fire prevention and first aid. Four staff are qualified to City and Guilds standard in legionella control in cooling towers and hot and cold water systems.
Griff said that one of the firm’s greatest achievements has been breaking through the £1m turnover barrier.
He is ambitious, planning over the next five years to develop GPC’s own branding and warehousing, continue to grow market share and create new jobs.
” Trading now for 14 years, we have grown year on year, expanding in both personnel and facilities,” he said. ” There have been difficulties which have been overcome by hard work, tenacity and loyalty.”
